Adversity truly births innovation and as cliché as this may sound, Felix Francois found out how true this is in his bid to find a worthy yet affordable engagement ring. An ambitious young man born into a family business focused on fossils and gemstones since 1989, Felix knew the diamond monopoly needed a disruption but not until something happened.

The Story of Satéur

The Satéur brand came into existence in Canada from this incident! Felix Francois had planned his engagement proposal to Michel D’aramitz, a fellow Canadian but to his chagrin, there were no diamond rings affordable enough for this historic event. Who would blame a young man for having a refined taste even if his pockets couldn’t match it at the time?

What to do! The diamond monopoly was as strong as it has always been but as they say, where there is a will, a way must open up. This was the time to break up the diamond dominance in the gemstone market as the price of diamonds had been intentionally raised to increase this advantage, young Felix decided.
